Men's BI3 Standouts

Written by First Class Lacrosse | Jul 6, 2026 9:08:41 PM

The BI3 Showcase was an incredible day out on the field with an excellent lineup of programs and coaches. BI3 is a 3 pronged approach to a recruiting showcase: Division 1 programs, high academic programs, and Division 2 & 3 programs. With 150+ 2027 & 2028 athletes in attendance, play was high level. Let's take a look at who stood out to our team:

Attack

#151 CHASE VIOLICH | MARIN ACADEMY | ADVNC | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.29 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 1 in | Vertical Jump: 27.75 in

Violich proved to be an elusive attackman from behind the cage. By escaping pressure and beating double teams, he was constantly putting stress on the defense as a dynamic dodger from X. Equipped with a great handle, Violich was a great initiator throughout the day.

#109 COLIN MCGARIGLE | ST. AUGUSTINE PREP | MESA | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: N/A | Broad Jump: N/A | Vertical Jump: N/A

McGarigle was one of the best overall attackman at the event. The lefty has great shake on his dodge and was particularly effective attacking from the wings. He's a tough dodger who can turn the corner to finish in front as well as slip underneath his defender from the wing. McGarigle also did a great job of being a feeder at the right times as well.

#58 LUCAS GRIZZANTI | HILTON | FCA UPSTATE/RED HOTS | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.32 seconds | Broad Jump: 7 ft 9 in | Vertical Jump: 25.25 in

The undersized righty was one of the best finishers at the event. A reliable target particularly in transition, Grizzanti did a great job of finding open space in front of the cage and cashed in on his chances with a variety of finishes. His best goal was a smooth dip and dunk in transition that completely fooled the goalie.

#1 MAX AHO | BLUE VALLEY SOUTHWEST | ADVNC/MIDWEST TOP GUN | 2027

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.27 seconds | Broad Jump: 9 ft 0 in | Vertical Jump: 29.05 in

Aho has the tools to play anywhere in an offense with his dodging ability and IQ. At BI3, he showcased his ability to quarterback an offense behind the net as well as be a shooter on the wings: he had a great fade where he caught it loaded and scored as time expired in a quarter. A poised and smart dodger, Aho's a player that can help an offense in many ways.

#186 ANTHONY WILDER III | CONCORDIA PREP | FCA MARYLAND | 2027

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.25 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 9 in | Vertical Jump: 28.45 in

Wilder is a slasher of a dodger with bounce and quick change of direction. We loved how he knifes to the cage and attacks matchups with power and speed. He works hard to put the ball to good spots on the cage, including a pretty finish on a strong underneath move. He had a great attitude and coach ability in the drill segments and played with a high motor.

#178 NICK HILL | THE HEIGHTS SCHOOL | NEXT LEVEL | 2027

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.22 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 8 in | Vertical Jump: 29.05 in

Hill proved to be an old-school midfielder who can make plays on both ends of the field. He uses his size well as a north-south dodger who is a smart shooter on the move, but he also showed the ability to initiate from X and win his matchup to get to the cage or find an open teammate. Hill showed a lot of good things offensively, but has the potential to be a strong two-way threat with his athleticism and impact in the middle of the field.

#142 BENJAMIN SPEIGHT | SOUTH COUNTY | TOP CALIBER | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: N/A | Broad Jump: N/A | Vertical Jump: N/A

Speight had the sequence of the day after he fooled his defender with a big box fake and then stepped in and lit up a corner from top center that drew ooh's and aah's from the crowd. He followed that up with another heavy stepdown to a similar location a few minutes later, solidifying his status as one of the top shooters at the event.

#18 WYATT BROTHERTON | ARCHBISHOP MOELLER | HEADLINES | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.14 seconds | Broad Jump: 9 ft 0 in | Vertical Jump: 28.55 in

One of the best initiators at the event, Brotherton had a knack for winning matchups from up top with both hands to ignite the offense. He's all over the field offensively, consistently making the right plays with and without the ball. Brotherton had a nice "C" cut on crease where he showed great hands with a quick finish.

#152 MICHAEL VOTTO | TAFT | TEAM CT/NOMADS | 2027

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.19 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 8 in | Vertical Jump: 28.95 in

The SSDM was a force of an athlete with a great frame, speed and size. Votto did an exceptional job at tracking the inside hip of his matchup and forcing them wide with physicality and well-timed jams. In the clear, he used his athleticism to be a one-man clear and showed comfortability with the ball. More than one college coach commented on Votto's play throughout the day.

defense/LSM

#181 HALE MUIR | THE KINKAID SCHOOL | EVOLVE/WEST COAST STARZ | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.11 seconds | Broad Jump: 9 ft 4 in | Vertical Jump: 33.15 in

The first thing that stands out about Muir is his presence as a communicator. His willingness to organize a defense was evident, a very impressive thing to standout for at a showcase. On-ball, he was strong and confident and off-ball, made excellent slide decisions. Muir possesses massive upside in the middle of the field and in transition, routinely coming up with big-time groundballs and pushing transition. Muir was everywhere at BI3 with his nonstop motor and compete level.

#167 BRENDAN ROBINSON | BRUNSWICK | EXPRESS NORTH | 2027

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.31 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 0 in | Vertical Jump: 27.05 in

Robinson was a technician when it came to navigating picks on-ball, getting marks from multiple coaches for his footwork and IQ. He also stood out of his sliding decisions and used body language to bluff dodgers out of dangerous areas. The Brunswick product is a high-floor defender that can impact a game both on-ball and off.

#156 RYAN WATERS | ST. IGNATIUS COLLEGE | TRUE IL AA | 2027

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.19 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 7 in | Vertical Jump: 29.55 in

Waters uses his length to his advantage by playing out on the perimeter and making his matchup uncomfortable. The Illinois product has good straight line speed and was one of the top communicators at the event. He made some great plays off the ground and is just one of those defenders that catches your eye immediately.

#88 KOLE KRIPAS | CHRIST SCHOOL | TEAM 91 CLT | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: N/A | Broad Jump: N/A | Vertical Jump: N/A

Kripas set himself apart for his on-ball defense, where he combined a very fundamental stance with controlled aggression. Off-ball, he had great approaches when sliding and applied consistent pressure. In transition, Kripas showed high IQ to draw a defender and open up his attackman for great opportunities.

FACEOFF

#6 LUCA APICELLA | HILLIARD DARBY | RESOLUTE | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: 2.25 seconds | Broad Jump: 8 ft 2 in | Vertical Jump: 30.15 in

Apicella showcased fast hands and an ability to exit in multiple directions. He has a great compete level and showed a willingness to push transition after a win. Already a strong prospect, Apicella could ascend to even higher levels once he gains more confidence with the ball and improves his ball-handling and decision-making.

#83 ASHER KLEIN | DALTON | PREDATORS/TRILOGY ICE/NRS NATIONAL | 2028

BIC COMBINE SCORES: Flying 20: N/A | Broad Jump: N/A | Vertical Jump: N/A

Klein seemed to make save after save after save at BI3. His 13 save performance in a game outside was the highlight, but each game he turned in solid performances with multiple clean saves. While Klein could work on his clearing ability and accuracy to hit outlets, his willingness to look upfield immediately and make a decision quickly was appreciated.
