2024 PLL Round 3 Mock Draft: Defenders & LSM's Fly Off the Board

2024 PLL Round 3 Mock Draft: Defenders & LSM's Fly Off the Board

These mock drafts are a more of what I think each team should do rather than an insider 'prediction' of what team will do. Stay tuned for Round 4 soon! Without further ado...

#17: Maryland Whipsnakes - Tyler Carpenter (LSM - Duke)

Bad news? Future HOF’er Michael Ehrhardt retired at the beginning of April. Good news? This draft is deep with LSM talent, and the Whipsnakes nab a good one in Carpenter, a battled-tested LSM who has played in some big games.

#18: California Redwoods - Jacob Morin (Midfield - Army)

Morin, like all players who come from service academies, comes with a risk of not being available to play right away, but the Redwoods decide his two-point range is worth the risk.

#19: Denver Outlaws - Roy Meyer (LSM - Boston University)

Meyer is another LSM in a deep class. While Meyer doesn’t provide the same offensive threat as Piseno, Woodward, or Carpenter, he might be the top defending LSM in the draft and is a safe bet to be a solid player at the next level.

#20: Carolina Chaos - Scott Cole (Attack/Midfield - Lehigh)

Last year, the Chaos drafted Brian Minicus, a speedy lefty to complement the Chaos’ Canadian-style offense, and now they take a similar player in Cole, a speedy righty who projects as a midfielder.

#21: California Redwoods - Will Mark (Goalie - Syracuse)

The Redwoods get their future starting goalie in Mark almost two rounds after the first goalie, Liam Entenmann, came off the board. Mark is a solid ball-stopper with the ability to spark transition.

#22: Maryland Whipsnakes - Scott Smith (Defense - Johns Hopkins)

The Whipsnakes need to bolster their defensive corps after trading away Bryce Young this offseason. Smith is a capable cover guy, but also great off-ball and off the ground. He’s a terrific fit and a great selection for the Whipsnakes.

#23: Philadelphia Waterdogs - Brendan Lavelle (Defense - UPenn)

Similar to Smith, Lavelle is versatile and can cover on-ball and play off-ball equally. It’s unclear if he’d start right away on a crowded unit, but he’d be a great secondary option for the Waterdogs.

#24: Utah Archers - Chase Yager (SSDM - Virginia)

Yager has a never-ending motor and is stout on-ball. With Latrell Harris’ status in question for next season after an injury late in the year, Yager would be a contributor right away.
