Women's Best in Class 2028 Standouts

In only its 5th summer of women's events, Best In Class has established itself as the premier rising junior event in the nation. The stats speak for themselves: 108 coaches, 65 head coaches, 2 fields, and 200+ of the nations top prospects. Let's take a look at who earned "BIC Standout" in 2026.

Attack

#155 MEAGHAN O'BRIEN | VICTOR | MONSTER

O'Brien was a matchup problem every time she initiated from the elbow. Her dangerous left-handed dodge consistently got her seperation over the top, but what stood out most was her ability to read the slide and make the next play. Whether feeding out of the dodge or finishing topside herself, she played with the poise and IQ of a high-level quarterback.

Bahl consistently found ways to put herself in dangerous scoring positions as a true offensive weapon. She attacked with excellent pace, changed speeds to create separation, and showed the ability to score from difficult angles around the cage. Her vision off the dodge and willingness to move the ball kept defenses honest throughout the event as well.

Gallagher was electric with the ball in her stick. Whether attacking from the wing, slipping underneath her defender, or getting topside with a quick hitch, she consistently forced slides and created quality offense. She complemented her dodging ability with outstanding vision, relentless effort on the ride, and a willingness to do the little things that lead to extra possessions.

Creative finishing around the cage became Marquardt's calling card throughout the event. Her signature roll dodge consistently created separation, and once she got inside, she showcased outstanding touch and body control to finish from difficult angles. Paired with smart off-ball movement and success in the draw circle, she always seemed to find a way to put herself in position to make a play.

An exceptional feel for the game allowed Faith to make a steady impact on offense without dominating the ball. She timed her cuts well, found soft spots around the crease, and finished confidently on the inside. This skillset is so impactful for coaches recruiting a balanced unit. Her understanding of spacing and ability to control the pace of the offense made her a reliable option every time she stepped onto the field.

Leonard's relentless effort showed up every time she stepped on the field. She played with great pace on the ride, attacked the cage with confidence, and consistently found ways to generate quality scoring opportunities. The Colorado product's elite stick skills and creativity around the cage allowed her to finish from a variety of angles.

Carcaterra was at her best with the ball in her stick as a true quarterback. Equipped with elite stick skills, she handled pressure with poise, attacked intelligently from the wing, and consistently got to the middle to create offense. Off-ball, she dazzled with some creative finishes. Her feel for spacing and high lacrosse IQ made her a difficult matchup every time she touched the ball.

She competed relentlessly between the restraining lines, impacted the game as both a dodger and cutter, and played with the toughness every coach wants in a midfielder. Her willingness to embrace contact and contribute on both ends of the field gave her team a spark whenever she was on the field.

Lugo played with outstanding composure, created offense with her vision, and consistently made smart decisions under pressure. She had great burst on her dodges which allowed her to gain separation on her matchups. Whether initiating offense or setting up teammates, she showcased a mature understanding of how to control the tempo of play offensively.

Always seemingly around the ball, Dimnaku made a variety of impactful plays throughout the event. She relentlessly hunted ground balls between the restraining lines, battled for every draw, and used timely back checks to break up transition before it developed. Her aggressive on-ball defense and ability to create extra possessions showcased the athleticism and motor every coach covets in a two-way midfielder. She's garnered a lot of interest from Division 1 soccer programs, so will be interesting to see what 2 sport opportunities come her way.

Every ground ball seemed to matter when Birkholz was on the field. Her work ethic in the middle of the field was evident, she attacked the cage with confidence, and routinely made winning plays on both ends of the field. Her physical on-ball defense, timely doubles, and ability to force turnovers made her a constant presence defensively. She is a kid you could recruit and then find a role at any position, speaking to her versatility.

Quickness and fearlessness defined O'Reilly's game. She attacked from the elbows with confidence, split double teams, and used her stick skills to finish through traffic around the crease. Defensively, she hustled all over the field, generated turnovers, and consistently made smart decisions with the ball in her stick. She's a high motor player.

You won't find many others as dynamic attacking downhill than Diehl. She consistently got to the middle with strength and confidence with the ball, drew slides, and kept her head up to create opportunities for both herself and her teammates. Her ability to finish through contact and make the extra pass made her a difficult player to defend.

You can envision McCrone playing in some big time games at the next level. Not only does she look the part of a college midfielder, she plays like it. Tall and rangy, McCrone effortlessly covers ground on the field as she was usually he first one down the field on offense and the first one back on defense. She turns the corner very well off the dodge, knifing to the cage to create the best shot for herself. She was dominant in her BIC outing.

Medico is a grinder between the lines. She's smooth, athletic, and an all-around midfielder with her play on both ends. But her best plays came on the circle, where she shined with several draw controls on Day 1 of the event. Medico is smart off the ball, whether its reading and anticipating loose balls on the circle or in half field settled sets offensively. She's someone you can count on in the middle of the field.

Kealty thrived on the draw. She used her height to her advantage and has great hands to be able to corral high draw controls or extend her reach on a self draw. The lefty has snappy hands and is someone that can be a force on the offensive end when given the opportunity. Her combination of athleticism and draw ability makes her an dynamic 2028 prospect.

Quinn has massive potential on the draw as another lefty that made her presence felt consistently. She was particularly effective with her ability to make good decisions and confidently carry post draw win is huge. She's a smooth athlete that can do a bit of everything on the attacking end as well, including some creative dodges from the left wing.

Macon is a fundamentally sound defender who consistently puts herself in the right position to make plays. She showed strong anticipation, communicated well, and directed the defensive unit while making timely slide decisions. Macon also displayed solid on-ball footwork, defended top offensive players effectively, and consistently won one-on-one matchups.

Smith's athleticism and stick skills allow her to confidently push the ball in transition after defensive stops. She is a player you want on the field at all times.

Schmalbach is a fast, athletic defender who consistently turns defensive stops into transition opportunities. She made plays all over the field, coming up with key ground balls, creating timely interceptions, and confidently pushing the ball herself on clears. Schmalbach also showed strong stick protection, competed relentlessly, and provided steady leadership on the defensive end.

It is no surprise Sherman is already off the board with a commitment to the United States Naval Academy after her performance at BIC. She was not afraid to pressure out on the perimeter and play in space. She didn't get beat, played with great cushion, didn't overextend or lunge, and had great anticipation and instincts. She has the ability to punt return a clear and carry with confidence.

DeSarno is an energetic defender who consistently creates disruption with an active stick and physical style of play. She communicated at a high level, showed great ball pressure, and helped spark transition with her ability to win possessions. DeSarno also impressed in the clearing game, confidently pushing the ball and using her stick skills to navigate pressure. As she continues to turn defensive pressure into more takeaways, DeSarno has the tools to elevate her game.

Myers consistently impacted the game by creating possessions for her team, winning tons of draws throughout the event. She remained composed under pressure, came up with key interceptions, and showed the athleticism to make plays all over the field. If you saw her on a Division 1 field tomorrow, you would have no idea she's just a rising junior. Myers also competed hard on ground balls and contributed offensively, proving to be a two-way presence. Her ability to control one on one matchups made her one of the most impactful players at the event.

Rama also proved to be a reliable clearing option, confidently pushing the ball herself while making the right decisions in transition. Her fundamentally sound approach allows her to consistently make winning plays on the defensive end.

Wright is an aggressive defender who isn't afraid to pressure ball carriers and create momentum-changing plays. She consistently looked for opportunities to jump passing lanes, came away with timely interceptions, and showed the athleticism to recover while maintaining strong body positioning. Wright also communicated well throughout the event and embraced coaching, quickly applying feedback. As she continues to refine her decision-making in the clearing game, she has the tools to become an even more impactful defender.

Holden has solidified herself as a top goalie in the class of 2028. Her presence in the cage is one thing, but her ability to communicate and direct the defense is remarkable. She says exactly the right things to give her defenders confidence, and combined with her ability to steal saves she shouldn't make, the entire defense feeds off her energy. She has a great presence in net and is constantly altering shots from shooters. Her vocal presence rings loud and clear from the sidelines as well, constantly supporting all her teammates.

Bacallao has the explosiveness of a collegiate goalie. The way she moves between the pipes is well beyond a typical 2028 player. The power she generates off her back leg is fantastic. She makes stops that stun the attacking team and shifts momentum. She's extremely athletic, has a commanding presence, and has great hands not just saving the ball, but in the clear. She carries herself with a positive energy that lifts others up and always comes excited to play.

Smaller in stature, McElheny plays BIG. Attackers struggled to find a way to get the ball in the back of the net because of her extremely quick hands and her feet follow. She has the ability to reach the pipe without sliding past it, a skill that will be invaluable at the collegiate level. Covering the full cage in one step and not overrunning the post keeps her ready for any rebound. She racked up saves, had incredible energy, and had game changing sequences which is not easy to do at Best In Class.

Sargeant burst onto the scene and was impressive throughout both days in net. She embodied the definition of last line of defense and took that responsibility seriously. She rarely gave up a goal she shouldn't have. She was active going for interceptions and ground balls, then consistently found herself in the correct spot to make the next save. Her goaltending had everyone watching, as she showed just how much fun it is to make plays out of nothing. It was a treat to watch.
