Best In Class Standouts: Women's 2027

Best In Class Standouts: Women's 2027

The 4th Year of our Rising Junior Best In Class event for the women's group was the best yet. 105 coaches came to recruit across 2 days, representing 72 schools. 62 head or associate head coaches were in attendance.

We decided to mix things up a bit for "Standouts", bucketing players a bit more by style and potential fit as recruiters often do, especially on the offensive and midfield side of things. Players could certainly fall in a few buckets, but we put them in the ones we felt resonated most after BIC. Here are a few of the categories we came up with and what we see them as:

  • Quarterbacks - players that we see having the ability to command and facilitate an offense
  • Initiators - players whom we see having a strong ability to create and get to the cage or start an offense
  • Goal Scorers - players who had ability to score in multiple ways and can fill up the net
  • Lefties - players who flanked the left side of the field, dodging and feeding on that left wing
  • Draw Team/Gritty Grinders - players who you want to go to battle with between the 30's and in the middle of the field. Many could fall in the 2 way bucket, but their between the 30's play stood out
  • 2 Way Middies - these middies project on both sides of the ball in college and are set to be impact players
  • Stoppers - these are your traditional defenders - strong 1v1, own their matchups, and often do important things off the ball for a team defense
  • Sparks - these defenders tend to generate more CT's, push transition, and get things going off the ground ball
  • Goalies - nothing fancy here, these goalies played lights out in our most competitive bunch yet

With only 190 players attending, this is the most selective event on the circuit.  Our evaluation team was loaded with evaluators used to recruiting at a high level, such as Phil Barnes, Adam Sear and a host of big time high school and professional coaches. This was our most competitive event yet and we can't wait to see how the process unfolds for the 2027s.

quarterbacks

#8 giana bigelow | valor christian | team 180

Giana was a leader on her team. Very fast and shifty. She made plays, set up her teammates well, and showed she was able to draw two and pass it off. Created numerous scoring chances for her teammates. She showed a ton of hustle plays that stuck out and is good off the draw. She scored in many different ways. Plays with her head up and had many different moves she could go to. Giana made her presence felt every game at BIC.

#102 corey kumin | noble and greenough | mass elite

Kumin has quick and shifty footwork on her dodges and makes a ton of great decisions with and without the ball. I think she draws comparisons to Emma Lopinto where as she continues to develop, she can quarterback an offense from X. She impressed coaches with her hustle all over the field, and has a knack for tough finishes. She is also smart in the 2 man game as well - picking, slipping on and off the ball giving her the ability to play on the wings. Her calling card might just be her vision - she sees the field extremely well and she's the type of player that can step into an offense and understand how to attack a man-to-man defense or a zone.

#162 shea shoulberg | mendham | steps

Shoulberg, being a lefty, could fit in the lefty bucket, but I think her value shows in the quarterbacking role. She can facilitate off the dodge on that low left wing, but she's always looking to feed teammates and play with her head up. When you think of someone who just made a killing off the low lefty wing slot for the past few years in the NCAA, you think of Mckenna Davis. Shea can certainly become that elite level feeder. She's the type of competitor that will continue to expand her arsenal and is a player that a coach can build an attacking unit around.

initiators

#33 enna corley | marlborough | hero's green

Corley has flash and substance. She has great stick-work and is creative. She showed great IQ and was versatile with and without the ball. She's shown her ability to score off the dodge, but also made a huge leap in her off-ball play. Her 2 handedness gives her an edge when initiating. She dodges to score, but makes great decisions when the slide comes. Her energy on the field is infectious.

#133 amalia netto | watertown | monster/storm | Committed to Army

Amalia is already off the board to play for Michelle Tumolo and Army. To say Army landed a big one is an understatement. Netto is shifty, creative, and a type of attacker that will give opposing scouts fits in the Patriot League. She creates leverage on her dodges, uses fakes well and knows how to turn the corner. She will be a major spark for West Point.

#185 isabella virtue | saint andrew's school | florida select

Virtue makes her presence felt immediately when you watch on field. She's strong, physical and super fast. BIC Evaluator Phil Barnes commented how she was one of the few players that was attacking downhill on Day 1. She is a high D1 level caliber athlete and can win matchups off the dodge, something that is always at a premium.

#160 jenna cratin | marriots ridge | hero's

Cratin showed flashes of some big time skill. She drives up to the island with poise, once sporting a behind the back fake to a nice touch pass for the assist. She uses her body well to create contact and to create space. She moves well off the dodge and constantly forces the defense to pay attention. Cratin has a high ceiling and will continue to grow her game.

#58 mary ebeling | rye | prime time

Ebeling led her team in scoring and was a consistent force every game. She's extremely 2 handed and was attacking matchups well. She showed high level off ball IQ, cutting and timing well to get open. She draws 8 meters and makes great decisions around when or not to shoot. She has a powerful step down, but also finesse on the inside.

#28 chloe cassidy | stone ridge | m&d

Cassidy is a great finisher. She has a quick release and is very good around the crease on the right wing. Very versatile dodger with explosive speed. A key trait of her game is how she allows the game to come to her in terms of attacking and dodging rather than going every time she touches the ball. Her four goal outing on Day 2 allowed her to finish the event strong. Chloe shows great upside.

#55 fiona duncheskie | bishop shanahan | philly blast

Duncheskie blew up at BIC. Her coaches felt she was the most impactful player on her team. She finished very well, scored multiple jumpshots, and displayed a cannon of a shot. Her shooting prowess was strong, but she also showed very good 1v1 on defense. She also was good off-ball, had good slides, and worked well with other girls. Might project more attack in college simply because of how dynamic of a scorer she could be for an offense.

lefties

#156 ryan rodgers | Deerfield | m&d

Rodgers vaulted herself into discussion to be a Top 5 player in the class. She's a 3 sport athlete and her hockey background shows. She's an attacker who is killer on the draw circle. In a 15 minute half, she gathered 5 DC's. She had an incredible clear to a feed on the money for a goal. She's a ground ball machine with high IQ, knowing when to push and when to settle her team. Rodgers is tough, plays team ball and has an elite on field motor.

McNamara lets the game come to her. When she gets her dodges, she takes advantage, winning a few 1v1 matchups and scoring from range. She is strong on D, finishes well in tight, and makes a ton of hidden plays for her teammates. She will be another coveted lefty in this class especially due to her versatility.

draw team/gritty grinders

#60 cecilia evans | dexter southfield | laxachusetts

Evans has instincts and compete you cannot teach. She's fast, athletic, and has great size. True 2 way mid, she was all over the field in a good way. She constantly turns heads by making different plays. Gritty is the right word for Cecilia - she's strong on the draw, and came up with what felt like every GB. She tracked down a player all the way across the field, and played her angles to turn her back. She battles all over the field. She draws comparisons to recent BIC Standout Maria Bragg (2026, Florida). Evans will be fun to watch going forward.

Brown is a smaller, tenacious midfielder. She was great on the circle and possesses two way ability. She is a 1 man show in transition in a good way - pushing clears, grinding it out, and transitioning the ball. She is very athletic, effortlessly switching gears all over the field. She made plays in a lot of different ways.

Fordham is an elite athlete. She's going to be highly coveted. While she didn't stand out as much offensively at this BIC, but her athleticism, speed and compete did and she made a ton of small, gritty plays. Fordham's a great example of why we created this bucket - we all know how valuable this part of the field is to success at the college level.

Pasko made her presence felt in this part of the field specifically. She had strong handles off the draw.  Wiry athleticism and speed, plays hard. One of the fastest kids at the event, this is a player you could see making an impact early in her career on the circle and in transition.

Martin is a grinder. She has great speed, size and athleticism and is very strong defensively. I think she does some of her best work defensively and in between the 30s. I saw her push transition on multiple occasions, showing her speed and decision making. She's the type of competitor you want to scrap with in the middle of the field and fits the Draw/Gritty Grinder bucket perfectly given she has top tier athleticism.

2 way middies

#190 kelsey young | agnes irwin | philly blast

Young is a spark plug. She's shifty off the dodge and can fill up the back of the net. I love her compete on the circle and think she can do it all on the field. One unique skill I noticed: she was able and willing to fire the ball forward to X off the dodge... with BOTH hands. We haven't seen that much and that speaks to her unselfishness and lacrosse IQ. She's going to be highly coveted come September 1st.

#77 saia hansra | centennial secondary | fusion west/team bc/oregon pride

Hansra is an extremely unique prospect and one of the few players in attendance with a box background. She was outstanding on draws and on the circle. She has great hands and earned so many possessions. She pushes transition and is very solid on defense, too. Excellent cutter and off-ball player. Her timing and IQ is strong and if anything, I think she can test her matchups even more offensively. Hansra is dynamic and has stood out everytime she's been to a BIC.

#82 madison herr | shoreham wading river | li yellow jackets

Herr is elite in the 30's, has great vision, and plays relentlessly. She has elite speed, but offers way more than just that. Madison can do anything asked of her, and is extremely athletic. She beat girls on the elbow with ease. She drives with her head up. She's the type of player that can go coast to coast, which she did on a few occasions. Once, she got ball off the circle, ran and tested her girl 1v1, and had a great feed to the crease for an assist. On another situation, she had a strong a CT to a fastbreak goal. Herr will be highly coveted. Her between the 30s play and versatility reminds me of former Yellow Jacket Kerrigan Miller.

#39 riley davis | academy of notre dame de namur | hhh

Davis is a 3 sport athlete where you just know the things she does on the field carry over. I've been so impressed by her ability to cut, re cut, and finish with both hands. She's the kind of kid and athlete that could be D1 ready now. Won 90% of the draws to herself or put the ball in a spot where her team could get it. She is an elite 2 way. She didn't get beat on D. Pushes transition, beats 1v1, makes the right pass, always in the right spot. Davis reminded me of the impact Eliza Osburn had at our inaugural BIC for the 2024s.

Makes the right cuts at the right moments . Great motor, can get up and down. Alexa won almost every draw she took, and she comes up with a ton of GB's.

Langdon was one of the top defenders at the event. She's super smart and knows when to go for checks. Langdon showcased good slides and stayed composed while clearing under pressure. Van Raaphorst showed well as a strong 1v1 defender and good communicator. She rarely gets beat and matchups tend to shy away as the game goes on. Caroline really showed her ability as stopper over these few days, but we believe she has spark potential as well driving transition as she has a great stick.

Sparks

#171 braelyn swanick | milton | eagle stix

Swanick was without a doubt one of the best defenders here. Not only is she a lockdown defender, but she scored multiple goals in transition and can play midfield as well without any drop off. Braelyn has a great fundamental stance while defending 1v1. She's quick and fast, and has amazing stick skills with both hands. A relentless player, she has the intangible instinctive drive paired with a great attitude and coach-ability. She reminded the staff of incoming Maryland freshman, and former BIC attendee Sofia Hererra, as well as UNC standout defender Sam Forrest. Swanick was a spark at BIC.

Like her older brother Chase, who starts at UNC, Kayla is a lockdown 1v1 defender. She showcased advanced decision-making on when to press out or when to double team, and had a bunch of CTs as a result. Her footwork and technique are super polished. Kayla is super present in the clear and handles the ball well, even scoring a goal as a defender. Kayla projects as a top D1 player with her athleticism, size and high IQ.

You can't teach speed, and DeFalco was one of the fastest players here. Anything she may be lacking in size she makes up for in speed and grit. She makes a ton of hustle plays and was awesome in the clear and transition. As her strength increases the next 2 years, her potential will skyrocket. She reminded the staff of Syracuse defender Kaci Benoit, whom often was an automatic clear for Syracuse.

Goalie

#21 macyn callahan | new canaan | gold coast

Throughout the two days, Macyn continued to turns heads. She had multiple back to back point blank saves. Her ability to reset after making a save is something way above her age. She is able to quickly reset whether the shot was a save or a goal, and gets back in her ready athletic position. She was constantly seeking feedback related to different looks she saw in her game. She always looks loose in the cage, and is ready to attack the play in front of her. Callahan erupted at BIC in what was an insane goalie class overall.

Jess is a goalie who you cannot help but appreciate the athleticism she brings to the position. You can never count her out of any play and you won't want to look away as you may miss a highlight reel save. She has the ability to change a course of a game when she stands on her head. Her stance is strong and balanced. Her movements are efficient and insanely quick. She is never not in the correct position, baiting shooters when she wants and playing it honest. One coach noticed too how she is celebrating every goal with her teammates. Simply put she put on an absolute show for us to watch and it was pleasure.

Hailing from California, Piper was turning heads as one of the top goalies in camp. She played strong, fierce, and patient in the cage these two days. She was able to use her body in ways by throwing it at the ball and never giving up on the play. Her position was second to none as she held the middle well and made the shooters second guess where to place the ball. Along with it all, she is active outside the cage and confident when the ball is in her stick. Her long clearing ability allowed her team to spark transition, similar to how Delaney Sweitzer could throw outlets effortlessly.

Mia is a fiery competitor. She truly brings out the best in those playing in front of her and plays with so much confidence in net. She plays bigger than her size and isn’t afraid to take away angles when shooters are in tight. She has quick hands and has speed. A great ball stopper but can also handle the ball outside the crease. She pushes the pace with the clears while also being smart with the ball. Impact Scores

Our BIC Impact Score is our internal way of evaluating players that attend our events. These metrics are not perfect, but are meant to capture the "impact" that these players had on their teams and training sessions from our staff's perspective over the two day event. They are garnered from multiple sources and discussed; however, they are based on a very limited sample. They are not comprehensive rankings beyond these two days.

5 is the highest ranking for our impact score metric. 5's are considered to be standouts at the event that had exceptional performances as agreed upon by multiple sources.

Screenshot 2025-07-08 at 1.58.53 PM

4's are those players that played very well and showed to have great potential, but did not have quite the same impact over the 2-day's as the 5's. These players were noticed regularly by many of the coaches in attendance.
