Best In Class: Boys 2024 Commit Recap

Best In Class: Boys 2024 Commit Recap

After a successful year 2 of Best In Class, we wanted to take some time as we settled in this fall, and look ahead to winter, to recap some stats and highlight some commitments from our class of 2024.

We are always trying to improve upon prior events and take what we learn from families to keep setting the bar higher for training experiences.

This past summer, we introduced a mini combine, with the goal of building some metrics in a sport that often doesn’t incorporate data into recruiting decisions. We feel the more touch points and data points, the better when it comes to answering question marks! We performed over 400 combine evaluations this summer across our 4 events.

Over 120 athletes in attendance from our 2 Boys 2024 events have committed.

Additionally, we were able to provide evaluations to all attending players which they received following the event. Let’s take a look at some commits and their evaluations from the summer!

It has been exciting to see these classes come together and see where these players land.

Evaluations

Caden Harshberger, midfield

Commitment: University of North Carolina

Flying 20: 2.09 seconds

Broad Jump: 9 ft, 5 in

Vertical: 32.5 Inches

Evaluation: Super fast and Athletic. Was one of the top midfielders at the event. Has a good first move that beats defenders. Finished the day with a couple snipes … STUD. Great split shot on the run, alpha dodger. Loved defensive effort in standing up shorties. Competes hard but plays with poise. As focus on shot selection continues to develop and variation in moves grows, there are few in the class with more potential.

Pat Grimley, midfield

Commitment: Harvard University

Flying 20: 2.33 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 2 in

Vertical: 29 Inches

Evaluation: Good size, good stick, physical dodger, can shoot … Solid athlete that uses his speed and COD well. Had a bunch of really nice goals from distance. Also had a nice low angle down the alley. … Grimley really stuck out as a strong lefty dodger and scorer. Has ability to stretch from range, create contact, and turns the corner well. Vision was on display with a big time windup to feed look. Think his game has a lot of potential. Continue to build skill set and versatility above GLE and will become a very strong prospect.

Brevin Wilson, attack

Commitment: University of North Carolina

Flying 20: 2.37 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 1 in

Vertical: 29 Inches

Evaluation: Brevin's vision and quickness was on display. He continues to impress every time we see him. He moves great without it and has been more aggressive with the ball in his stick. He's a positionless style player that will make an impact above or below GLE. Despite a bit smaller, he makes up for it with toughness and quickness and will go hard to the rack. Only downside in individual events is sometimes the ball doesn't go through him as much as it should!

Wade Jahnke, defense

Commitment: Yale University

Flying 20: 2.2 seconds

Broad Jump: 9 ft, 2 in

Vertical: 33 inches

Evaluation: Wade is a physical and impressive defender. He certainly passes the eye test and moves well. He does a great job of filling up when his attackman is inactive at X, and makes good contact at GLE. I'd like to see him continue to be aware of the sneakier X attackman when he's in a show position, and bring some controlled physical force on slides inside.

Quinn Langton, attack

Commitment: Army West Point

Flying 20: 2.33 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 4 in

Vertical: 30 inches

Evaluation: Good vision, makes plays, can shoot with range. Showed willingness to redodge and get to net. Good footwork on COD. Doesn't force. Made good decisions. Snapped off some nice High to lows time and room. Would like to see him attack left more to setup RH ? mark and/or lefty turn the corner. Think his best lacrosse is ahead of him.

Porter Malkiel, attack

Commitment: Princeton University

Flying 20: 2.27 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 5 in

Vertical: 27 In

Evaluation: Slick, quick, beats his defender on his first initial move. Shoots a hard on the run. Has a slick roll back that he gets defenders with a ton … Great burst from X to either hand does a great job reading the defense before he catches to take advantage of what the defense gives him , great on the island Generating his own shot. A lot of potential with athleticism and opportunity to be next elite Oregon recruit!

ben wood, defense

Commitment: Georgetown University

Flying 20: 2.29 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 2 in

Vertical: 25 In

Evaluation: Fundamentally sound pole. Plays positioning well, stick out in front. Good strength and covers well in space. Strong communicator and limits mistakes. Great stick and strong off the ground. Think Ben has great upside as he continues to get stronger and think he will be a great piece to a defensive unit.

*Confirmed to attend BIC Committed in December*

Peter Buonnanno, attack

Commitment: Princeton University

Flying 20: 2.27 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 5 in

Vertical: 27 In

Evaluation: Slippery lefty with good hands and hitches. Can be more vocal off ball and take advantage of open situations. High level hands, handles contact well ... Shifty and quick dodger who is explosive and can beat his defender off of the first step. He has proven he has the ability to get to the cage and is able to finish in difficult areas with pressure on him ... One of the best attackman at Best in Class. He has great change of direction and speed. He is smart with the ball and able to play within an offense effectively. Game has evolved a ton, especially athletically, since first BIC event.

*Confirmed to attend BIC Committed in December*

Beck Mahoney, defense

Commitment: Cornell University

Flying 20: 2.34 seconds

Broad Jump: 7 ft, 9 in

Vertical: 25 inches

Evaluation: Great size, moves well. Is a strong presence on the field. Strong stick work and connects well on checks. We think Beck has high potential as an NCAA prospect as he hones in some small tweaks in positioning and decision making on checks to throw.

Chase Picard, midfield

Commitment: Georgetown University

Flying 20: 2.04 seconds

Broad Jump: 9 ft, 7 in

Vertical: 33 inches

Evaluation: Super Athletic. Fast and Strong. Has a hard down the alley shot … STUD. Athletic, strong, 2-way, has range, SSDM, transition player … Broad shouldered RH plays hard all over the field great pop on his dodge with out having to give a lot of shake.

Mac Mohn, Attack

Commitment: Harvard University

Flying 20: 2.19 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 5 in

Vertical: 26.5 inches

Evaluation: Smooth Rh tall lean athlete handles contact well and sees through the defense while remaining a threat to shoot around his man or rocker by him. Has range on his shot and athleticism and pop in his step has improved. Think Mac is going to be a great prospect as a wing slasher/scorer.

*Confirmed to attend BIC Committed in December*

Aiden Bross, Midfield

Commitment: Army West Point

Flying 20: 2.22 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 9 in

Vertical: 26 inches

Evaluation: One of the top shooters at the event, Bross displayed an elite ability to put the ball in the back of the net. Can shoot Time and room, and off the dodge, but also demonstrates a great balance of being aggressive with playing the right way and making good decisions with the ball. Good pop in his step. Aiden  consistency in decision making and shot selection will continue to be a focus to elevate himself as a big time midfielder. Great energy and attitude.

Joey bambrick, midfield

Commitment: Notre Dame

Flying 20: 2.12 seconds

Broad Jump: 8 ft, 6 in

Vertical: 30 inches

Evaluation: The real deal, big, athletic, shoot on the run type, and physical dodger ... Very big presence on the field because of his size and skill. Joey does a good job balancing the big, physical contact with making a move and getting his hands off a split. This will continue to evolve. He's got 2 way potential and excited to see where he lands and where his game grows!

Tyler Coryea, Goalie

Commitment: University of Maryland

Flying 20: 2.43 seconds

Broad Jump: 7 ft, 4 in

Vertical: 24 inches

Evaluation: As balanced and clean fundamentally as a junior keeper can be. On top of his shot stopping abilities from any range, his IQ and awareness in the clear are some of the best in the class. As he makes the transition to college it will be important for him to limit ending up on his back for low shots.
