Best In Class Standouts 2026 Rising Junior Boys
The Class of 2026 kicked off the summer with our first Best In Class Event. The "Standouts" from our past 3 Rising Junior events have gone on to...
In the 5th summer of the Rising Junior Best In Class event, many D1 coaches commented this was our best yet. The talent was as deep as it has ever been, which may reflect on the class as a whole and the state of skill in today's game. With over 60 coaches in attendance, it was a BIC record. Let's check out who stood out below.
Oakey turned heads with a five-goal outing. He’s a dynamic dodger who scored from X, around the corner, and even pulled off a backhand finish. Showed comfort finishing with both hands and consistently buried mid-range step-downs. His shooting mechanics are clean, and his confidence is growing. As he continues to develop as a passer and initiator, Oakey has the tools to become a complete quarterback at attack. One D1 coach praised his growth as a ball carrier and expects him to keep trending upward as he leads Taft this season.

A tall, cerebral lefty who can slot in anywhere on the offense. Silva doesn’t rely on burst to get separation, but makes high-level reads and plays with great feel. He excels at initiating contact and maintaining control through it. As he adds strength, his game will scale. He made teammates better all week.

Bladon plays with a unique mix of power and finesse. His hands are elite, and he was comfortable working both with and without the ball. Can run out of the box or play attack. Needs to keep evolving his decision-making, especially on when to press vs pull it out. One coach compared his game to former pro Kevin Buchanan.

Confident and slick, Shaw used fakes and deception to keep defenders off balance. He has a natural lefty release up the hash and showed flashes of elite timing and IQ. He’s clearly working to integrate advanced concepts like fly-bys. One high-level D1 coach said he believes Shaw has top-tier potential at the position.

Leland made plays all week. He’s a physical, balanced dodger with a deceptive burst and change-of-speed gear that lets him create separation. He scored from multiple spots on the field and was a key facilitator. Though he didn’t take face-offs at BIC, he has that skill in his toolbox. Projects as a true Swiss Army knife-type recruit who can fill multiple roles.

Holm is a two-handed midfielder with a rare mix of length, speed, and physicality. He consistently beat his matchup and made good decisions with the ball, often kicking it to X off the dodge. He projects well as a downhill dodger at the next level. Continued growth in off-ball awareness and team IQ will unlock the next layer of his game.

Cook is a strong, rangy athlete who gets downhill with power. He showed flashes of scoring ability, especially on rolls and counters. Needs to work on off-ball movement and quicker decision-making — at times held onto the ball too long. Still, his physicality and scoring touch stood out, finishing as his team’s top scorer.

One of the best midfielders on his squad. Displayed snappy two-handed shooting ability and consistently made the right plays like throwing the ball forward when he drew a hedge. Big time motor, loves to compete. Has some shake and as he continues to fill out will be a strong high academic recruit.

Phillips has the size and athleticism to match up with top-level dodgers. He moves well laterally, plays with patience, and was disruptive all over the field. He’s strong off the ground and made smart decisions in transition. Still developing his vocal presence and at times got a bit too aggressive in space, but physically and technically, he checks a lot of boxes.

Hamner was one of the most noticeable defenders on the field. At 6'3", he brings range, effort, and the ability to match up with size. He was constantly involved — covering the ball, flowing with team defense, and sprinting through ground balls. Plays fast and hard, with the tools to be a two- or three-down guy at the next level.

Carrasquillo was likely the top athlete at camp and the numbers back it up. He has elite feet - which was evident in his covering of the ball. He moved well laterally and was smart with his contact. He had ability to create on his own dodge, but offensively needs to continue to fine tune to make a next level impact on the offensive side. In defense and transition, he possesses all the tools to be an impact short stick at the high D1 level and is garnering some interest on the football side as well.

Tate is a true SSDM. He's really good clearing, and on the ball. Great off the wings, does the simple things well, does not try to make flashy plays. This is a guy that you do not need to slide to. Good IQ. As he gains ability to create more O in transition for himself and others, it will vault him to the next level.

The sophomore from Taft has outstanding poise in his game. Does not get rattled easily and makes life for shooters a nightmare. Teddy does a good job of playing the position in a way that best fits his skills set. Creative on the inside and patient on the out, Oh is a name to watch going forward.

Big, lanky goalie who forces shooters to hit the perfect shot from the outside. Gillis is a QB in the cage and always has his defense organized and prepared for whatever the offense may throw his way. He has a really good stick and makes quick and accurate outlets in the clear. Gillis is a name to watch as the summer goes on in an elite class of goalies.

Tall rangy goalie who plays extremely composed in the cage. Does not move unless he has to and is always set before shots. Does a phenomenal job of taking up cage on inside shots and forcing shooters to beat him with the perfect finish. The west coast product is primed and ready for the next level.

Finley has smooth and consistent technique. His True plunger set him apart at BIC. Slid under the ball and locked it immediately before catching it on the left side of his body. Doesnt tend to kick or rotate which made it easy for him to exit with space. Multiple times he lost the clamp and casually stole back the exit mid air. He should get a lot of attention the remainder of the summer.

Has all the tools to be a division, one face off man. A strong clamp, a great rake that he can mix in, and a brutal counter move on the whistle. He's a big, strong, physical athlete. Still needs to work on getting out a little quicker so he can capitalize on some of his clamps - but had a fantastic showing was definitely one of the top FO guys at BIC.

You would never believe that Tommy has only started facing off recently. His wrestling background is very obvious in the way he attacks the position. He has a real gift of hand speed, but what differentiated him percentage wise from the rest at this event was that it literally didn’t matter if he won the clamp or not. He would somehow come up with the ball or make the right goose to his wing to steal back wins. He has an exceptionally high ceiling.

Our BIC Impact Score is our internal way of evaluating players that attend our events. These metrics are not perfect, but are meant to capture the "impact" that these players had on their teams and training sessions from our staff's perspective over the two day event. They are garnered from multiple sources and discussed; however, they are based on a very limited sample. They are not comprehensive rankings beyond these two days.
5 is the highest ranking for our impact score metric. 5's are considered to be standouts at the event that had exceptional performances as agreed upon by multiple sources.
4's are those players that played very well and showed to have great potential, but did not have quite the same impact over the 2-day's as the 5's. These players were noticed regularly by many of the coaches in attendance.
